Happy PAW! (Privacy Awareness Week – COVID-19 edition)

To celebrate Privacy Awareness Week 2020, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) has put together a dedicated user friendly website highlighting the importance of protecting personal information. This year, the OAIC is focussing in particular on the risks individuals and organisations are facing in the current COVID-19 environment, encouraging people ‘give their privacy a reboot’ with some straightforward and useful tips.

With many of us deploying a range of technological devices and solutions to get through working from home, home schooling and general isolation boredom, there has never been a more important time to ensure your individual and workplace privacy is protected.  As part of PAW, the OAIC will also be hosting a webinar on 6 May 2020 entitled: Privacy in a pandemic.

The website (and registrations for the webinar) can be accessed at the following link: https://www.oaic.gov.au/s/paw2020/

If you require legal advice in relation to your organisation’s privacy obligations, contact a member of our team for clear, on-point and practical guidance.
